TWO DIVISIONS

OPEN (WINTER AND SPRING SEASON): 

Games are played on a half field. Each team is composed of seven players. To participate, players must be at least 16 years old as of January 1 of the current season. All league games will be played on Wednesdays.

This  division is geared for players seeking a faster pace of play, stronger technical ability, and a higher level of intensity.  Despite the higher level of competition, players are expected to uphold SOWLS social and recreational spirit, contributing to an environment that remains respectful, enjoyable, and community‑focused.

To align with the more competitive nature of this division, game scores and goal scorers will be recorded.  After every match, teams will also pick the top field player and goalkeeper from the opposing team, who best represents the combination of skill and sportsmanship. 

At the end of the spring season, trophies will be awarded to the top scoring players, best defender, forward and goal keeper.

OVER 35 (SPRING SEASON ONLY)

Games are played on a half field. Each team is composed of seven players. To participate, players must be at least 35 years old as of January 1 of the current season. All league games will be played on Mondays.

The Over 35 division is designed for players who wish to continue developing their soccer skills in a relaxed environment with an emphasis on fun and mutual respect. This division is open to all participants—whether you’re totally new to soccer, coming back after a long break, or just looking for a slower, friendlier pace. The emphasis is on enjoyment and participation, where everyone gets the chance to play.

To foster the feeling of fun, no standings or scoring records are kept. Instead, after each game the opposing teams vote for the player who best combines sportsmanship and skill.

At the end of the season, trophies will be awarded to the top players—voted on by each team—who best embody the fun, relaxed spirit of this division.
